Can Wales go all the way and win the Rugby World Cup?

Wales are one of rugby union’s greatest sides and will be quietly confident of their chances in this year’s Rugby World Cup. In their opening fixture, Warren Gatland’s men earned a convincing 54-9 victory over Uruguay at the Millennium Stadium but much tougher fixtures lie ahead. Wales will face England at Twickenham tomorrow while they will also face Australia in the group stages too. England are currently heavy favourites to beat the Welsh but many punters wont see it that way, England’s price of 1/3 (with Coral) does seem a little harsh on the Welsh after their domination of Uruguay in the opening game) To advance past the primary stage of the competition, it’s likely that Wales will have to win at least once against either of these teams. It’s getting closer

googleRWCWith only around 4 hours to go until the RWC starts this evening in Twickenham, I must admit to getting really excited.I absolutely love this competition, the mix of brilliant skills, strength and speed along with the global spirit of camaraderie that exists in rugby, makes it a unique sporting event.
This one though is also a bit closer to us as Tecwyn has been working involved in the planning and building of all the RWC websites and apps. As a result, I’ve heard lots of the inside developments and also some of the lighter moments. There’s no doubt that he’s had a ball getting things ready for the off. So bring it on and may we have a feast of entertainment in the weeks to come as the we enjoy the best of a World in Union.

Tecwyn’s work at RWC 2015

For the last 3 years my younger son, Tecwyn, has been working at World Rugby (was International Rugby Board) on the digital team, looking after the development of their websites and apps. This is his interview – in Welsh – for BBC Radio Cymru this morning.

It was good to hear him admit that he is “hollol bonkers” something some of us have known for a long time!!

Nice one Tec.

Do you Haka or Hakarena?

I didn’t like the spoof of the Haka that Matt Dawson produced earlier this week but even though it was in bad taste it still might have been better than this rendition by the All Blacks against the Barbarians in the famous 1973 match. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unHsrJ8TYmU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Wake up and smell the coffee

I’m waiting in a coffee shop whilst my car gets its MOT done. By “waiting” I really mean “having breakfast” and coffee. It’s a nice, clean, recently opened little place with a reasonable breakfast too

But it doesn’t have many customers, 3 in fact in the hour I’ve been here and I think I know why. The service is lousy.

I finished my food over an hour ago and have been web surfing since then. The dirty dishes are still on the table and no attempt has been made to offer me another cup of coffee. An easy upsell is just about to walk out of the door, thirsty.

Simple things make happy customers, but I guess I won’t be back next year, even if the place survives that long.
